Answer: He obeyed the Lord. "and all Israel crossed over on dry ground, until all the people had crossed completely over the Jordan." Joshua 3:17b.

Answer: The ark of the covenant, which represented the presence of God. And they commanded the people, saying, “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you shall set out from your place, and go after it." Joshua 3:3.
Question to adolescents:
Read Joshua chapter 3, verse 5, and answer: What did Joshua instruct the people to do before crossing the Jordan River?
Answer: The people were to sanctify themselves. To sanctify means to be cleansed from sin. "Then Joshua said to the people, “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.’” Joshua 3:5.

Read Hebrews chapter 11, verse 30, and answer: How did the people of Israel conquer the city of Jericho?
Answer: By faith. "By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days." Hebrews 11:30.

Read Joshua 6:20 and answer: What happened when the people obeyed the Lord's command and marched around the city of Jericho?
Answer: The walls of Jericho fell. "So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city." Joshua 6:20.
